Corfe Castle
A ruined castle
overlooking the village of Corfe Castle. The castle became a ruin during
the Civil War after the defenders led by Lady Bankes surrounded
to the Parliamentarians who were besieging the castle. The siege lasted
for three years and after the surrender Lady Bankes was allowed to leave
the castle with her garrison and the keys to the castle because of her
courage.
