I moved with my father from 13 Southwell in 1950 to the United States. I have not been back since, but I love to reminisce. Though I know many changes have taken place, but I can still feel the spray of the Atlantic on Pulpit Rock and I still recall attending church at Avalanche. Hopefully you may add more pictures which I would truly welcome

Church Ope cove and Bow & Arrow castle - I have an almost identical shot of the castle arch hanging on my wall whic I took about 20 years ago. An old resident told me that on a clear day you could see the Isle of Wight from the area beyond the arch. The Portland railway branch line travelled along the cliff face to the north, and there was still a GWR fence along its trackbed. Arthur, Medway in Kent.

Hi. Great site - lots of excellent pictures of my favourite part of the world. You have kindly provided a couple of links on the Litton Cheney page (thanks for those too!). However, the link to the Litton Cheney village web site is slightly wrong. The site no longer uses "index.htm" as the home page, so if you amended your link to "www.littoncheney.org.uk" then all would be well again. Many thanks Simon Nobes

I looked up Puddleton, England and found your site while searching for something regarding the brasses of Christopher Martyn died 1524 and Nicholas Martyn died 1595. In a novel I found mention of Puddletown near Dorchester. It said these brasses were in a church in Puddletown - transept - knights. My cousin says we are related to the Martyns. I don't know. If it is true regarding the brasses I would appreciate seeing photos of them. Seeing your site is the closest I'll ever get to England much lest to Puddleton. Is St Mary's where these are or is it fiction like the novel? Thank you for the photos of this area. Jeanette Martin Telfair County, Georgia USA

I just want to say these are beautiful and great views of the old style town. I draw alot, alot of cumputer graphics really and most of it is fantasy based. These gave me alot of ideas about the picture im currently working on and quite a few to follow. Again the quality is amazing and perhaps one day I will be able to go over with my kids. Thank you Keana

Thanks very very much for your wonderful photos. I just recently discovered that my greatgreatgreatgrandfather lived and died at #3 Clarence Buildings in 1883. From your photos, combined with research from another website, I have come to the conclusion that the yellow-faced building with the bowed window beside the Alexandra Hotel must have been #3. Can anyone tell me if that is a private residence now, or part of the hotel? If it's a hotel, I would like to stay there some day. Can anyone confirm my deductions? Thanks very much.
