Tout Quarry
A r****t is not a welcome visitor to most Portlanders. The local superstition is that the furry things burrowing caused land slips in the quarries where Portland Stone comes from. About 100 years ago the superstition was reinforced when a crane operator was killed after his vehicle tipped over due to rabbit burrows.
In late 2005, posters advertising Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were Rabbit film were banned on Portland. A compromise was made by replacing the word rabbit with bunny.
